Closing Procedures & Notifications

In the event of a weather, safety, or facility emergency, St. Louis Community College may close or issue a delayed opening to ensure the safety of its students, employees, and patrons. While each situation is unique, below are answers to frequently asked questions.

Inclement Weather and Emergency Communication

College is Closed

When the College is closed, all classes are canceled for the day. No classes or labs, library, student center, writing center or any other service will be open. This includes evening classes and STLCC classes affiliated with the Corporate College and Continuing Education. Some essential staff may be required to work; however, managers will make those decisions based on need.

College is on Delayed Schedule

If a delayed schedule is announced, the location will delay opening until the time specified in the inclement weather or emergency communication announcement. Classes beginning before the specified opening time will be canceled for that day. In the absence of any announcement, students should assume that the College is operating on its normal schedule.

College is Closing Early

If inclement weather or a safety or facility emergency occurs during the day, the College may decide to close early. If this occurs, classes scheduled after the time specified in the closing announcement will be canceled for that day. In the absence of any announcement, students should assume that the College is operating on its normal schedule.

Emergency and Closing Notifications

St. Louis Community College has a variety of tools and applications to notify students, employees and the community in the time of emergency events or closings. Please familiarize yourself with these emergency platforms.

STLCC Alerts

When a decision is made to close or delay an opening, the College will use STLCC Alerts to share information. This system is powered by Regroup, a mass notification platform that supports email, text and text-to-voice messaging. All STLCC employees and credit students are automatically set up to receive STLCC Alerts. Community members may opt-in to receive these messages.

Digital, Social and Mass Communication

The College will communicate information on stlcc.edu and share details on social media (Facebook and Instagram). Official announcements may also appear on radio and television stations, including FOX/KTVI (Channel 2), KMOV (Channel 4), KSDK (Channel 5) and KPLR 11.

STLCC Emergency Hotline (314-539-5454)

STLCC uses a college wide hotline to share updates regarding inclement weather and emergencies. STLCC’s emergency hotline can be reached by calling 314-539-5454.
