Training Scholarships for Food Stamp Customers

Let's get you work-ready and equipped for growth.

SkillUP Missouri offers scholarships for short-term training programs and support services (if needed) to individuals receiving Food Stamp benefits. Learn how you may qualify for free training through St. Louis Community College.

Getting started with STLCC and SkillUP is as easy as 1-2-3.

Click on each step below to discover important, helpful information:

STEP 1 • Determine eligibility

The top two qualifying factors for SkillUp benefits are that

  • you receive food stamps in the State of Missouri and are a Missouri resident, and
  • you are willing and able to go to work immediately upon completion of training.

If that sounds like you, SkillUp may be just the right fit for you!

Begin an empowering training journey immediately by contacting us in either of these ways:

  • Contact us via the convenient feedback form*
  • Give us a call at 314-644-9787
  • Attend a free information session*
  • Visit us at STLCC-Forest Park, room G-212*

* Find additional details at the bottom of this web page.

When we speak with you, we can jump start the process when you provide the following information:

  1. Full legal name
  2. Mailing address
  3. Date of birth
  4. DCN# or case number through Family Support Division (FSD)

This first SkillUP eligibility verification step typically only takes a couple business days.

Did you know… registering for SkillUP benefits is actually easier than applying for a Pell grant. You won't even need to file a FAFSA!

STEP 2 • Select your training path

Once we determine that you are eligible for SkillUp benefits, our STLCC team will guide you in choosing an education path that fits your interests, needs and schedule. We can also help you navigate other available SkillUp services, including transportation and childcare assistance.

We take great pride in offering high-quality accelerated programs that quickly train up a workforce for in-demand jobs.

Programs are available at multiple STLCC campuses, including Forest Park, Florissant Valley and our Corporate College in Bridgeton.

Learn more about the programs by selecting from the program titles below.
