This accelerated 12-week training program is designed to produce qualified candidates for employment as office administrators, customer service/customer relations representatives, administrative assistants, data entry associates, and general administrative support.
This program was formerly known as Business Office Applications Training (BOAT).
The Customer Information Support Specialist (CISS) Program is a professional certificate program offering diverse adult-learners the practical skills necessary to compete in today’s global workforce. Comprehensive Training in Microsoft Office Applications
Qualified trainees have the opportunity to achieve industry recognized certification as a Microsoft Office Specialist in Word and Excel and Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and Outlook. These certifications offer you the tools to build a brighter future!
Essential Business Communications Skills
Soft Skills: Communications, emotional intelligence, critical thinking, effective leadership, customer service, team building, valuing diversity, workplace ethics, personal branding, effective resume writing, mock interviewing, developing a personal career development plan.
Budgets and Financial Literacy
Participants gain a basic understanding of budgets and financial reports so they can hold relevant discussions and render decisions based on financial data. Participants will learn the concepts of budgeting, financial reports and essential terminology.
Today every organization is responsible for ensuring cybersecurity. The ability to protect information systems from impairment or even theft is essential to success. Implementing effective security measures will not only offer liability protection; it will also increase efficiency and productivity. Participants will learn how to understand different types of malware and security breaches, know the types of cyberattacks to look out for and develop effective prevention methods.
Your Pathway to a Credit Degree
Program completers who receive their certifications in Word and Excel and choose to continue their education at STLCC, may earn up to eleven (11) credit hours towards the Certificate of Specialization in Computer Applications or the Associate in Applied Science in Office Information Systems.
High school diploma or GED, typing proficiency, WorkKeys and Microsoft office computer assessment.
Cost of Program
All costs associated with the program will be covered through a variety of funding sources. There are no costs to qualified students.
This training program requires a full-time commitment of twelve weeks from the participants.
The hours of instruction are
8 a.m.-4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
