Five-week, 208-hour employer specific program of instruction in aircraft assembly techniques for Assembly Mechanic positions within Boeing. Skills and qualifications: Must be mechanically inclined and pass all required prescreening tests. Training is free to those who qualify.

STLCC has been partnering with Boeing for over ten years to provide this pre-employment program. Over 500 graduates have been employed with Boeing.

 

Assembly Mechanic Training Options


Sheet Metal Assembler & Riveter (SMAR)

208 hours of training

Day Classes:
7 a.m.–3:30 p.m., Monday – Friday, 5 weeks
Now accepting resumes for October and November classes

Evening Classes:
5–10 p.m., Monday – Friday, 8 weeks
Now accepting resumes for 2019 classes


Composites Mechanic

168 hours of training

Day Classes:
7 a.m.–3:30 p.m., Monday – Friday, 5 weeks

Boeing Pre-Employment Training for High School Seniors program

This no cost program provides 208 hours of employer specific instruction in aircraft assembly techniques for Assembly Mechanic positions within Boeing. Students will be eligible for an interview with Boeing once they successfully complete the program, graduate from high school, and are 18 years of age.

Jan. 9 through May 9, 2019, Monday through Thursdays, 4–8 p.m.
Graduation, Friday, May 10, 2019

 
Program Requirements

  • Attend Information Session
  • Letter of recommendation from high school signed by a teacher, counselor, and principal stating: no risk of student not graduating, no disciplinary issues, school recognizes student as a good candidate

  • Pass Layout/Measuring Assessment

Program Location

All training takes place at STLCC’s Center for Workforce Innovation on the Florissant Valley Campus, 3344 Pershall Rd, Ferguson, MO 63135.

Cost of Program

Currently there is no cost to students to attend either of these training programs. All costs are covered by a combination of resources provided by Boeing, St. Louis Community College and the Missouri Division of Workforce Development.

How to Get Started

  1. Send a resume to boeingtraining@stlcc.edu.
    Please be sure to include all skills, hobbies, tools, and work experience that would reflect your mechanical aptitude on the resume.
  2. Once we have received your resume, you will contacted by program staff and scheduled for WorkKeys Assessments.
    • Required WorkKeys Scores: Applied Math 4, Graphic Literacy 4, Workplace Documents 5
    • To find out more about the WorkKeys Assessments please visit www.workkeys.org.
    • There is no cost for the first round of assessments, however if you do not meet the required score(s) and wish to retest, there is a $20 per assessment fee.
  3. When you meet the required score you will be scheduled for the Lay-out/Measuring Assessment (SMAR only). This is a pass/fail assessment of your ability to follow-directions and measure accurately.
  4. Once you have met all the program requirements you be placed into an upcoming class.

A minimum score of 75% is required on all grades tests/projects.

Those who successfully complete the program will receive an interview with Boeing. Participation in this program does not guarantee employment.
