STLCC-South County to Host Accelerated IT Help Desk Info Night

St. Louis Community College-South County will host an Accelerated IT Help Desk Certificate Information Night on Tuesday, Nov. 13, from 6-7:30 p.m.

This unique program was offered for the first time in January 2018. It provides hands-on training in an accelerated format that allows students to graduate with a certificate in only seven months, with classes just two days a week.

The program prepares students for entry-level help desk or desktop support technician positions that can pay more than $20 per hour.

“We’ve had a lot of success with this program, so we’re excited to bring it back for 2019,” said Craig Chott, program coordinator. “What’s really unique about it is the cohort model – 20 students taking the same classes at the same time, moving through the program together and learning from each other. And the potential salary once they graduate can be pretty motivating as well.”

Demand continues to grow for computer specialists in the St. Louis region, especially for those with industry certifications. Once the certificate is complete, students will be prepared to sit for several industry certifications, including CompTIA A+ and CompTIA Security+ certifications.

During the information night on Nov. 13, STLCC representatives will describe the program in detail, including the step-by-step schedule, internship options and financial aid. A graduate of the program also will be on hand to answer questions. Those who attend will be able to register for classes on the spot.

STLCC-South County is located at 4115 Meramec Bottom Road.

There are only 20 slots available for the program, which begins in January. To register for the information night, call 314-984-7200.
