STLCC-Meramec Hosts Empty Bowls Luncheon Fundraiser
St. Louis Community College-Meramec will host the 12th annual Empty Bowls Luncheon on Monday, Nov. 5, at 11:30 a.m. in Room 200 of the Student Center on campus, 11333 Big Bend Road.
The luncheon supports the campus’ Student Assistance program as well as Operation Food Search. Tickets are $5 for students and $10 for faculty, staff and community members.
Those who attend will receive a meal of vegetable soup or white chicken chili served in a one-of-a-kind handmade ceramic bowl created by Meramec’s Ceramics department. Attendees can keep their bowl. A salad, rolls and dessert will also be served.
“We hope to raise awareness of the needs of our students and raise at least $1,000 for the Brown Bag Café,” said Debbie Corson, service learning coordinator and event organizer.
Monetary donations as well as donations of non-perishable foods such as canned vegetables, fruits and meats, or pasta and rice are also being accepted.
