Establishing an Inclusive Climate for Faculty of Color through Recruitment and Retention Efforts
Presenter: Angela Street (EAB)
Room: HS212
Too often, efforts to foster a more inclusive climate stall out because of "analysis paralysis." Leaders want to be sure they have exactly the right data to measure and understand the climate at their institution. Year after year, leaders launch climate surveys to measure faculty and staff's perception of climate. However, the data continuously shows in particular the attrition of faculty of color continues to either decline or not increase. In this session we will explore best practices in faculty of color retention and recruitment efforts where an inclusive climate has been deeply explored and made progress in these areas of challenge. We will discuss how this may relate to SLCC and explore the research surrounding this work together.
