Music

Associate in Arts Degree (FV, FP, M)

The music program provides students with a solid foundation in music theory, music history and literature, class instruments and performing ensembles in preparation for continued study at the university level. Private instruction in voice, piano, organ, orchestral instrument, classical guitar, jazz guitar, jazz bass, jazz piano or jazz drums is arranged with some of the area's leading musical artists.

Students have the opportunity to perform in outstanding symphonic bands, orchestras, choirs and jazz bands. They have access to guest artists, artists-in-residence and special recitals and concerts throughout the year. STLCC is one of the few colleges in the St. Louis area to offer a complete array of large ensemble activities to meet the performance needs of a diverse student body.

For the non-major, STLCC offers a variety of classes including Music Appreciation and Beginning Guitar or Piano. Other performance opportunities are available through our continuing education program.

Students are strongly advised to familiarize themselves with the music program at the school to which they plan to transfer and work with the advisors at St. Louis Community College to plan a program to meet those requirements.
