Technical/Business Communication

Associate in Arts Degree in Communication Arts - Technical/Business Communication Option is a 64-credit-hour program designed to provide students with practical skills to achieve success in business and technical careers. Student majoring in this option can successfully transfer to a four-year university or college.

Certificate of Proficiency in Technical/Business Communication is a 30-credit-hour program designed to provide practical communications skills and experience to those who have trained or are training in another field but desire a higher level of communication skill.

Students will learn to create written and oral messages through a variety of media in their coursework. These skills will be acquired through courses in composition, communications and art. Students also will gain skills in locating, gathering and organizing information from printed electronic and other media, and in the use and design of graphic aids.

Persons interested in technical/business communication should possess:

• Career skills in clerical, managerial, financial, governmental, health services or technical areas
• An interest in language and communication
• Prior experience in word processing, photography, engineering or technical illustration is helpful
