Important Message from Chancellor Dorsey

To All Students, Faculty and Staff:

The safety and security of our students, faculty and staff is our highest priority. The past week has taught us that we all need to work together toward that common goal.

Today I’m writing you to announce that I have accepted the resignation of Meramec Campus President George Wasson, effective immediately.  In the interim, Wildwood Campus President Pam McIntyre will step in as president of the Meramec campus. During this time, Wildwood's Vice President will become interim president of that campus. We also have begun the formal search process for a Meramec campus president, and I will share more details as I can.

Again, I want all of you to know how seriously we take safety and security. Below are immediate actions we are taking at St. Louis Community College:

Over the next few days, I’m meeting with all STLCC personnel involved with last week’s incident to review the procedures that were followed and identify opportunities for improvement.

  • I have asked each of our campus presidents to host Safety Forums at their campuses in the next two weeks. These are designed to gather input, review procedures and answer questions. Please consider attending one of these forums.
  • Campus presidents and members of our Districtwide Emergency Preparedness Team will meet with me to discuss the feedback received during these Safety Forums. We then will create an action plan based on those suggestions, and I will report that back to the college community. If you are not able to attend, please share your ideas at pim@stlcc.edu.
  • I also want to encourage all of our students, faculty and staff to sign up for our emergency text service, STLCCAlert, if you haven’t done so already.

I want to thank the many students, faculty, staff and alumni who have shared their feedback with me during the last week. I appreciate your candor and your commitment to the STLCC community, and look forward to continuing this dialogue as we work together to make our college safer for everyone.

Sincerely,

Myrtle E.B. Dorsey, Ph.D.
Chancellor
