Streaming Radio FAQ

How long has KCFV been Streaming?

KCFV Ferguson has been streaming live since October 8th, 2008. At approximately 12:30pm KCFV went live with the song “Bohemian Rhapsody” by Queen. Barry Yoakum was the Operator on duty.

It’s not working.. What do I do?

First, make sure that you have Quicktime installed on your computer. If you are not sure if you have Quicktime, go to the Quicktime website and download the latest and greatest version.

What kind of computer do I need to run Quicktime?

You can run Quicktime on a Mac or PC. If you run a PC, it has to be a Pentium Processor based (or equivalent) machine, have at least 128mb of RAM and run XP service pack 2 or Vista. If you have a Mac, it should “just work”.

I’ve downloaded Quicktime and it still doesn’t work. What do I do now?

Quicktime may not be correctly receiving the KCFV streaming feed. To setup Quicktime to make sure that it receives the KCFV streaming feed, click on the bottom right triangle, and select “Connection Feed”. Once the menu pops up, select the “Advanced” tab the top. Under the Streaming section, Select the transport type and click on “Custom”. This will open up the Streaming Transport window. From here, set the “Transport Protocol” to HTTP, and make sure that the “Port ID” is set to 80. Click OK to close out that window and Apply on the next window. Once the settings have been saved, click “OK” and then refresh the webpage. This should allow you to listen to KCFV live on line.

Can I find KCFV online anywhere else?

KCFV can also be found on I-Tunes. Just click on the “Radio” section and under “College Radio” you can find the KCFV stream there!

I saw my friend listening to KCFV on their iPhone. How do I do that?

On the iPhone, search for “College Radio Tuner” and download the application. Once installed, find KCFV on the wheel and you can listen anywhere there is a 3G connection!
