LOWERY BREAKS INDOOR NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP RECORD

Santana Lowery managed to break 3 records at once at the NJCAA Indoor Championships, held March 6-7, on the campus of Texas Tech University, in Lubbock, Tx. She broke the NJCAA Championship, ATC Facility, and Flo Valley School Record, with a win in the 55m dash in a time of 6.70. Lowery, also won the 200m in school record fashion, with a time of 23.42.

Teneshia Peart, (recent TCU signee) ran 6.86 finishing 3rd in the 55m. Tarika Williams finished 7th, and ran a 6.99 in the prelims. The two ladies also placed in the finals of the 200m, Peart placed 4th running a faster time in the prelims (23.87). Williams posted a time of 24.42 in the prelims, and finished 6th.

The men’s team had some successes as well.  Terrel Cotton achieved All-American status against a highly talented field, with a second place finish in the 200m, with a time of 21.07. That time also lowered his school record. 

Blake Austin managed to break the 1000m school record with a time of 2:33.66. Austin was a finalist in the 1000m and Mile run.

The men’s 4x400m relay place 3rd, with a time of 3:14.25 which is the second fastest indoor time ever ran in Flo Valley history. The team consisted of Raffique Providence, Terrel Cotton, Earnest Winters, and Tyrone Hawkins.
