About Continuing Education
St. Louis Community College is a leader in lifelong learning. In responding to the educational needs of the St. Louis metropolitan area, St. Louis Community College Continuing Education has evolved into a leader in the delivery of high-quality educational programs. We offer the following programs and services.
Personal Interest Courses - Enrich your life and pursue your interests! Make time for your creative side! Improve your health by Tapping Into The Mind/Body Connection. Stimulate your creativity, imagination and writing through an art form called SoulCollage®. Attain a balance of mind, body and spirit after a stressful day at work with Afterwork Yoga. Whatever your interest is, we've got you covered.

Youth Programs - Young learners can get involved in classes developed especially for them, or for parents and children to take together. In addition, the college offers a variety of programs for youth such as Kids on Campus, College for Kids and summer camps. Lifelong Learning - Whether it's learning a new language, gaining a better understanding of finance and investing, or engaging in a discussion about the Civil War, our lifelong learning classes broaden the cultural and intellectual perspectives of our students. Our GED and ACT Test prep classes, as well as English as a Second Language classes prepare our students to get to the next level at convenient locations throughout the metropolitan St. Louis region.
- GED Preparation, Academic Skills and Literacy Training, and ESL - Students can study to earn a GED, improve basic reading, writing and math skills, and learn English conversation reading and writing skills.
Professional Development Courses - STLCC provides comprehensive training in a variety of areas, including computer and technical programs, career development, food service and more. Specialized programs include:
- Allied Health Continuing Education - offers a wide selection of courses and services to the community. Numerous noncredit courses are offered for nurses, EMS personnel and other allied health professionals on a semester basis as well as customized on-site training for community organizations. Allied health continuing education offers a noncredit Legal Nurse Consultant Certificate for registered nurses. In addition, noncredit courses are offered for the pre-professional nursing and allied health student. Allied health continuing education serves as a Community Training Center for the American Heart Association offering Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Basic Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support and lay rescuer CPR and first aid classes. Additional educational opportunities for the spring 2012 include Nurse Assistant for Nursing Home Training, Nursing Math Classes, Phlebotomy and the Legal Nurse Consultant conference. - The Entrepreneurial Experience: Starting a Small Business - This 14-week entrepreneurship training program has been specifically designed for individuals with a promising idea and a desire to start or improve their business. This course will teach you the financial and business fundamentals that each entrepreneur must know to compete and run a profitable business. By the end of the program, each participant can have a comprehensive business plan ready to be implemented! The program addresses all aspects of a business startup, including business planning, marketing, market research, financial analysis, legal structures, licensures, organizational structure, and much more. More than half of the companies on the 2009 Fortune 500 list were launched during a recession or bear market, along with nearly half of the firms on the 2008 Inc. list of America's fastest-growing companies.
- Small Business Development Program - offers small business owners with programming that provides the tools they need to succeed in today’s swiftly changing business environment. For more information, call 314-984-7777.
- Child Care Providers Program - offers a variety of classes for those employed in the child care field or for those interested in learning more about working with children through the Caring for Kids program. Child care clock training hours are available. For more information, call 314-513-4391.
- The Digital Arts and Technology Alliance (DATA) supports one of the leading digital arts programs in the nations. DATA organizes and sponsors workshops for professionals, which are held in the Center for Visual Technology (CVT), another DATA component. CVT consists of the facilities, hardware, software and other digital devices that are used in the workshops and the art curriculum at STLCC-Meramec. Online Courses - STLCC has partnered with multiple providers of online learning nationally recognized for their high quality instruction and content. Take your online course from the comfort of your home or office at the times that are most convenient for you. Our course providers offer a wide variety of subject areas and classes, virtually something for everyone.
- Personal and Professional Development low cost, short-duration, instructor guided courses are available in partnership with ed2go. They are informative, fun, convenient and highly interactive. Courses are project-oriented and include lessons, quizzes, hands-on assignments, discussion areas and supplementary links. Most of these courses are only $99 each and six weeks long.

- American Management Association self-study courses provide more than 60 skill-building courses in 20 subject areas including supervision, leadership, human resources, finance, communication and management. These courses help individuals to master the skills that are critical to business and management success. Each online course is filled with practical exercises relating the underlying theory to your every day work environment. - Career Advancement and Certification programs through Gatlin Education Services provide the competency-based or certification-based learning required by many adult learners and career changers. The over 100 online certificate programs are designed to provide the workforce skills necessary to acquire professional caliber positions for many in-demand occupations including the Allied Health, IT, Business, Technical, Skilled Trades & Construction industries. These courses include everything students need; high quality on-line content, textbooks, CD-ROMs, and most importantly an online instructor/mentor committed to student success.

Customized Curriculum Development - In collaboration with area businesses, schools, industries, agencies and organizations, STLCC offers educational training programs throughout the metropolitan area. We can design a program to meet the needs of your constituents. We can offer credentialing, certificates and transcriptions of training. STLCC Continuing Education can coordinate your next conference or create an on-site workshop.
