Workforce & Community Development
Workforce and Community Development is a comprehensive service of St. Louis Community College responding to the talent development and organizational performance needs of St. Louis’ business, civic and community-based organizations. The division’s departments serve the community beyond the traditional college setting. Each division maintains a staff of experienced professionals along with state-of-the-art resources designed to improve the quality of the region’s work force and provide increased opportunities for the area’s residents.
Center for Business, Industry & Labor (CBIL)
Celebrating more than 20 years of service, CBIL is the largest provider of training and consulting services in the St. Louis metropolitan area, training 23,000-plus employees from more than 100 local companies each year. CBIL also is the local education agency (LEA) for state of Missouri training grant programs, including Customized Training, Retained Jobs and New Jobs.
Employment and Training Center (ETC)
Established more than 25 years ago, ETC staff work in eight Missouri Career Center locations, providing non-fee services to business and job seeking customers. Annually, more than 3,000 job seekers receive career transition assistance through Workforce Investment Act (WIA) funded programs.
Community Workforce Partnerships (CWP)
Unique community-based partnerships are established in construction, transportation, police science, healthcare, computer/information technology, machining, technical skills, work readiness/job placement assistance and basic academic skills enhancement.
Downtown Education Center (DEC)
Classes available at the DEC
As a part of the college’s Center for Business, Industry & Labor, the DEC is equipped with two high-performance computer and network instruction labs and is fully furnished to meet your training, conference and workshop needs. The DEC is a Microsoft IT Academy and a Thomson Prometric Testing Center.
Metropolitan Education and Training (MET) Center
An innovative collaboration among state and local government, St. Louis Community College and other community-based agencies, the MET Center in Wellston offers a variety of training opportunities that afford area residents skills necessary to enter productive, long-term employment.
