Metropolitan Education and Training Center

The Metropolitan Education and Training (MET) Center is an innovative training and education center, centrally located on the MetroLink corridor for easy access, that offers short-term training courses and other resources. MET is the starting point for unemployed and underemployed area residents to brush up on their skills, experience hands-on training and then enter the workplace. Indeed, for many participants, the MET Center can be the bridge not only to employment, but also to further college coursework. MET courses are the steppingstones for continuing learning at area colleges and institutions.

• MET offers a comprehensive set of assessment, job readiness and career/technically focused job training, placement and career development services.
• Get on the fast track to a rewarding career with non-traditional, focused, comprehensive job training that prepares you to meet current workforce demands.
• Hundreds of MET graduates are working for local employers in well-paying, skilled jobs -- and so can you.

Partnerships

MET is a unique partnership of public, private and community-based organizations, including St. Louis Community College, St. Louis County Government, Better Family Life Inc., East-West Gateway Regional Jobs Initiative and St. Louis Agency for Training and Employment.  Through MET programs, individuals gain

• Skills training that is required for specific trades
• Accessible training, close to public transportation 
• Maintenance fee assistance*
• Resume writing and interview preparation
• Job search assistance
• A second chance to finish high school (GED preparation)
• Improved work habits and job retention skills

Current Training Options through STLCC

• Business Office Applications Training (BOAT)
  This is a 12-week certificate program offering students the practical skills necessary to compete in today’s business offices.
• Career Pathways to Life Sciences
  Training and classroom experience in preparation for an entry-level, career-oriented opportunity in the life sciences.

Throughout your training experience, we are committed to supporting your efforts.

Before training:

• Career assessment and advising to determine the best career path for you.
• Academic and work readiness skills assessment information to develop an individual training plan for you.

During training:

• Work readiness, job search, basic skills enhancement and job-specific training tailored to match employer requirements.
• MET courses are offered by training professionals whose knowledge and experience drive quality training.

After training and beyond:

• Job placement assistance and guidance
• Job retention and graduate followup services
