Grant Funding for Training and Economic Development

The Corporate Services Unit of the Workforce Solutions Group is a Local Education Agency to state of Missouri grant funding programs for training and economic development. The State of Missouri Customized Training Program provides a partnership between the state, the Local Education Agency, industry, and employees. With State of Missouri funding, training assistance can be provided to local companies around the state. This funding provides educational opportunities for the entry, production, and primary management level employees.

State of Missouri Customized Training Grant Program

This state grant program provides awards funds to eligible employers that meet state criteria for job creation and/or capital investment. The funding is primarily targeted for new hire and incumbent worker “skill upgrade” training.

Missouri Community College New Jobs Training Program

This state grant program provides training funding for companies creating a minimum of 50 new jobs in a one-year period. This funding is intended for large expansion projects or a new facility in Missouri.

Job Retention Training Program

This program provides assistance in reducing the cost associated with retraining an existing workforce for the purpose of retaining jobs in the state of Missouri.

Businesses applying must be determined to be at-risk, and must meet one of the following criteria: Have made a substantial investment in new technology; Be located in a border county of the state and represent a potential risk of relocation from the state; or be determined to represent a substantial risk of relocation from the state by the Department of Economic Development.

Retail businesses do not qualify for this program. Other eligibility criteria may also apply such as types of jobs, type of industry and wage rates.
