MoHealthWINs Background Information

MoHealthWINs ClassThe MoHealthWINs funds were made available under the U.S. Department of Labor's Trade Adjustment Assistance Community College and Career Training Grant Program (TAACCCT). TAACCCT provides community colleges and other eligible institutions of higher education with funds to expand and improve their ability to deliver education and career training programs that can be completed in two years or less, are suited for workers who are eligible for training under the TAA for Workers program, and prepare program participants for employment in high-wage, high-skill occupations.

Missouri colleges participating include Crowder College; East Central College; Jefferson College; Linn State Technical College; Metropolitan Community College; Mineral Area College; Moberly Area Community College; North Central Missouri College; Ozarks Technical Community College; State Fair Community College; St. Charles Community College; St. Louis Community College; and Three Rivers College.

An important component of this grant is the collaboration between the colleges, the Missouri Department of Economic Development and the state's Workforce Investment Boards to retrain unemployed Missourians for jobs and careers in healthcare. St. Louis Community College has partnered with the St. Louis St. Louis Agency on Training and Employment (SLATE) and the St. Louis County Department of Workforce Development to provide:

  • MoHealthWINs education and outreach materials,
  • Candidate referrals, with priority services to TAA participants and Veterans,
  • Formal and informal workforce intelligence through career center business services units to employment and training needs in the health industry, and
  • Leverage business services, job placement and training assistance.
