Accelerated Job Training

The Workforce Solutions Group develops industry-specific training in partnership with the college’s campuses and local employers to help adults retrain for in-demand occupations in shorter duration formats. This is a comprehensive list of the variety of accelerated job training programs that have been developed by the Workforce Solutions Group. Program offerings are based on demand and the availability of funding or industry partner participation.

Avionics (Aviation Electronics)

Enrolling now for October 2015 class.
An accelerated 8-week practical, hands-on, non-credit course. Avionics is the field that involves the assembly, installation and maintenance of electronic systems on all types of aircraft, artificial satellites, and spacecraft. Classes will be offered at St. Louis Community College's Florissant Valley Campus. Two training options are available: An eight-week daytime option: 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. or a twelve-week evening option: 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Training is free to those who qualify.

Aviation Maintenance Technology

Enrolling now for August 17, 2015 and January 4, 2016 classes.
Prepare for Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe and Powerplant certifications. Students learn how to maintain and repair many types of aircraft, from small aircraft with reciprocating engines to large transport planes with turbine engines. Classes will be offered at the Gateway STEM High School aviation maintenance facility starting in August and meeting Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. on the St. Louis Public School schedule. Training is free to those who qualify.

Business Office Administrative Training (BOAT)

The next class groups start Aug.10 and Oct. 19, 2015.
The BOAT Program is an accelerated, 10-week professional certificate program offering diverse adult-learners the practical skills necessary to compete in today’s global workforce.

Boeing Pre-Employment

Now enrolling for daytime and nighttime class groups.
Ten-week, 408 hour employer specific program of instruction in aircraft assembly techniques for Assembly Mechanic positions within Boeing. Training is free to those who qualify.

Central Sterile Processing Technician

This two-tiered program offers the student a direct pathway to success in Central Sterile Processing. Whether starting a career in Central Sterile Processing or already working in the field, this program builds a foundation in central service workflow and concerns, basic job knowledge and skills, and basic job responsibilities.

Certified Personal Trainer Certification

Become a certified personal trainer! Designed to provide the knowledge and understanding necessary to prepare for the ACE Personal Trainer Certification Exam and become an effective personal trainer, this course presents the ACE Integrated Fitness Training (ACE IFT®) Model as a comprehensive system for designing individualized programs based on each client’s unique health, fitness, and goals.

Class A Commercial Truck Driving Program

Now enrolling for classes starting Aug. 10, Sept. 14, and Oct. 19, 2015.
The Truck Driving program is a five-week program which prepares the graduate to enter the commercial driving industry as an over-the-road truck driver. Students will rotate through a combination of classroom, driving simulator time, and several hours of road driving. Training is free to those who qualify.

Environmental Remediation Technician

Classes start in January 2016. Interviews, drug testing and class registration will begin August 17, 2015.
This is a federally funded EPA training grant program to train residents of brownfields-affected communities for employment as hazardous material removal workers and other environmental remediation occupations. 200 hours of training.

Logistics, Warehouse & Distribution Specialist

Enrolling now for class starting August 10, 2015.
Prepare for front-line material handling and distribution positions across the supply chain - factory, warehousing, distribution, and transportation. This is a 5-week logistics program that meets Mon-Fri for 30 hours per week. Training is free to those who qualify.

Nurse Assistant for Nursing Homes

10 week hands-on intensive training program for those interested in entry level positions as a certified Nurse Assistant.

Patient Care Technician

This program is currently offered through the MoSTEMWINs grant program
This industry-specific program, which combines five weeks of intensive classroom instruction with three weeks of clinical practice, prepares individuals for entry-level positions as patient care technicians in local hospitals. The training also satisfies the requirement of the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services for Unlicensed Assistive Personnel.

Pharmacy Technician Certification

This training prepares the student for entry level employment as a pharmacy technician. Students will learn about the top medications dispensed in the United States and be introduced to the basic concepts of pharmacy calculations for proper medication dispensing.

Phlebotomy

This noncredit program prepares the student for entry level employment as a phlebotomist. The course provides classroom, lab instruction and clinical experience. Class meets two times a week for eleven weeks; each class session is three hours in length. The 120 hours of clinical experience is in addition to scheduled class time. Strict attendance policy enforced throughout this training.

Small Business Essentials Certificate Program

A new program designed to provide a pathway for new and current entrepreneurs interested in exploring the components of small business startup, operations, and to learn business management skills essential for success of their endeavor

Truck Driving (CDL-A) Training Program

Welding Technology Training

Enroll now for August 3, 2015 class!
The Welding Technology program offers classroom and shop experience that introduces students to the core components fundamental to success as welders and offers American Welding Society (AWS) certification testing for successful graduates of the program. Training is free to those who qualify.
