TRiO at Meramec
Student Support Services (SSS) is a federally funded TRIO program designed to improve the retention and graduation rate of college students who are first generation and/or with limited income. SSS students benefit from the use of a variety of program resources and individual interactions with a highly dedicated program staff. Program personnel strive to get to know student members well enough to suggest special opportunities based on individual abilities and needs. TRIO offices are located in AD 130. Tutoring is also available to TRIO students in CN 127,10 a.m. and 4 p.m, Monday‐Thursday. All new TRIO students must attend a TRIO orientation, and will be assigned a peer mentor during their first semester in the program.
Who is eligible?
Students at St. Louis Community College – Meramec are eligible for SSS program services if they are planning to graduate or transfer, and meet one or more of the following criteria:
- Low income (most students receiving PELL grants meet this criteria) OR
- First generation (no parent living in the childhood home graduated from a 4-year college/university) OR
- Documented Disability–If a student is unsure about eligibility, come in and talk with one of our staff.

- Academic Coaching and Advising
- Extensive advising is provided to help students stay on the right academic path.
TRIO SSS students are eligible for individual tutoring sessions.
College Survival Workshops
Workshops are offered during each semester, helping students develop academic skills such as note taking, test taking, exam preparation, time management and study skills.
Our staff will provide students with personal support and assistance in navigating campus resources.
Transfer sessions and campus visits to 4‐year colleges.
Supplemental Grant and Aid Advising
SSS participants receive supplemental advising to ensure that they receive all the ﬁnancial aid for which they are eligible. Students have the opportunity to also apply for TRIO Grant Aid.
