Eligibility

Any St. Louis Community College student in need of the provided services. Confidentiality is maintained for all services provided within legal and ethical guidelines.

Services
 

  • Provide students with information and guidelines for public assistance programs such as Temporary Assistance, Food Stamps, Medicaid, and Child Care.
     
  • Provide Advocacy Services which may include talking for the student or encouraging the student to self advocate, or speak for him or herself.
     
  • Act as a liaison between the student and their caseworker and/or case-manager. 
       
  • Inform students of special services or events on campus that will enable the them to succeed at St. Louis Community College.
     
  • Help students plan their education within the rules of the welfare system.
     
  • Provide crisis assistance by aiding students who are homeless, in need of financial assistance (will help students identify available resources), or who are feeling overwhelmed with the combined pressures of school, parenting, work, and public assistance issues. 
     
  • Assist students in problem-solving barriers that affect school retention and success. This may include helping students identify and access community resources such as affordable housing, child care, utility assistance, and more. 
     
  • Provide academic advising. (Florissant Valley only)
