Eligibility

The African-American Male Initiative (AAMI) is currently seeking students to be a part of this innovative program in two categories:

AAMI Program Participants

• African-American male students who are currently attending classes on either the Florissant Valley, Forest Park, or William E. Harrison Education Center campuses.
• Must be currently enrolled in at least 6 credit hours (fall/spring semesters) or 3 credit hours (summer semester)
• Have earned less than 25 credit hours of college coursework.

AAMI Peer Mentors
For consideration, candidates must possess the following qualifications:

• Must be currently attending classes on either the Florissant Valley, Forest Park, or William E. Harris Education Center campuses.
• Must be currently enrolled in at least 6 credit hours (fall/spring semesters)
• Be good academic standing (2.0 grade-point average or higher)
• Completed 21 or more credit hours of coursework from St. Louis Community College or another accredited postsecondary institution.
• Have a strong interest in and commitment to the AAMI program and to help other students succeed academically.
• We prefer mentors who work no more than 30 hours a week
