Italy’s Southern Treasures

March 8-17, 2017

From the town of Verona where Romeo and Juliet's love affair unfolded, to St. Mark's Basilica and the Piazza San Marco in Venice, St. Louis Community College's Study Abroad Italy program offers you an educational experience like none other.
Immerse yourself in the Italian language and the ancient and contemporary cultures of Italy while you explore castles, museums and theatres, experience the diverse cultural history of Brescia, Milano, Venice and Verona, enjoy the natural splendor of the Lake Iseos, and imbibe in the culinary arts of Italy.



The estimated program fee is $2,850* per person based on double occupancy.

The program cost includes:

  • Air transportation and airport transfers
  • Ground transportation to specified cities and sites
  • Lodging in 3 and 4 star hotels (double occupancy)
  • Daily breakfast at the hotels
  • One piece of checked luggage (within 20 kilos) and one carry-on
  • Entrance fees with English-speaking guides for all included sites
  • Limited luggage handling
  • Gratuities for bus drivers, tour guides and included meals
  • Limited emergency health insurance

The program cost does NOT include:

  • STLCC tuition (1 credit hour)
  • Passport, visa, entry/exit fees
  • Gratuities other than for bus drivers and tour guides
  • Snacks and some meals
  • Independent touring
  • Travel cancellation protection insurance (strongly recommended)
  • Single supplement fees. (Single supplement is approximately $375)
  • We will try to find a roommate for you if you need one; but if we are not successful, the single supplement fee will be charged.)

About the group leader

The Learning Community Leader, Chris Stephens, Professor of Communication Arts, has been honored by the Missouri Community College Association of as "Global Educator of the Year". He has presented widely on the topic of global studies. This project has been selected as "Campus Innovation of the Year" at Florissant Valley. Chris is fluent in Italian and brings his expertise in language and Italian culture to the community.

Payment Options:

  • Immediate deposit of $400 ($200 of which is non-refundable) due to secure your spot in this study abroad opportunity.
  • Balance will appear as a field trip fee once you enroll in the required GLE 101 course. Payment deadlines will follow the college's normal tuition payment deadlines.

Cancellation Policy:

  • Full refund (minus $200 non-refundable deposit): Cancel before November 1, 2015
  • Penalties will apply for canceling after November 1, 2016
  • No refunds for cancellation on or after February 1, 2017
