Certificate of Proficiency (FV, FP, M)
Associate in Fine Arts Degree -- Photography option is a 68-70 credit hour program that can provide freshman and sophomore level classes for students who are preparing for transfer to the University of Missouri-St. Louis or another college/university art program to complete a BFA. The program offers classes in analog, digital, video and experimental processes, with an emphasis on developing a personal vision and an understanding of the medium's role in the larger art world. Students are encouraged to experiment with a variety of photographic equipment and processes, from pinhole cameras to the latest in digital imaging, from non-silver processes to jpegs, not only to become technically proficient, but also to explore and find their own creative space. Students participate fully in their learning experience, pushing the boundaries and testing the limits of what photography means today and what it will mean in the future. The program encourages a strong foundation in traditional photographic processes and in art, with an emphasis on blending that knowledge with emerging technologies and non-traditional techniques.
