Art Activities

The Wildwood campus art department is focused on providing a high-quality student experience. In addition to the wide variety of course offerings, there are many art-themed activities for our students to become involved in:

  • Local field trips to a variety of venues such as artists’ studios, public lectures, exhibits, printing companies, etc.
  • Regularly scheduled visiting artists who share their ideas and experience with our students. Some of these artists serve as guest critics, others give demonstrations, slide lectures, gallery talks, or art workshops.
  • Off-campus exhibition opportunities such as the annual “Varsity Art Exhibition” at Art St. Louis and the biannual “Creative Spirits” show at UMSL.
  • The Artspace Project: students, either individually or collaboratively, may propose, and - with permission - execute new designs for the multi-paneled display in the first floor lobby.
  • Annual Campus Student Exhibition
  • Annual League for Innovation Student Art Competition: Students whose work is accepted into this yearly national competition receive certificates of merit and their work and bios are printed in a full color exhibition catalog. A number of monetary awards are presented as part of this competition each year.
  • Art-themed community service opportunities such as involvement with Wildwood’s annual Eco-Art Exhibition.
