Printmaking is an “umbrella term” that includes a number of different image-making techniques. Among these are etching, monotype, collagraphy, lithography, silk screening, etc., as well as newly developed nontoxic methods such as Image-On and Solarplate printing. In our three levels of printmaking we strive to introduce students to a selection of media (there are far too many to cover in the course of one academic career!). There is much room for creativity in these classes, and students can explore figurative or nonrepresentational imagery as they learn some of the many ways to create printed images.
