Janice Nesser-Chu

Janice Nesser-Chu is an artist, curator and social activist. She serves as the Chair of the Art & Humanities Department and Interim Dean of the Liberal Arts Division. Nesser-Chu exhibits nationally and internationally. Her most recent exhibits inclue: "On the Margin: Gender & Politics Identified," Sarah Doyle Gallery, Brown University, Providence RI and "Water: A Universal Right," Robert Morris Gallery, Chicago IL. Her current work melds quilting and embroidery with dress patterns, altered books, photographs, and found objects in an investigation of familial relationships, cultural taboos, and their place in the formation of identity.

Nesser-Chu serves on local/national boards including Women's Caucus for Art and ArtTable. She has spearheaded several national conferences focusing on art and social justice. In 2014, Nesser-Chu received the President's Award for Art and Activism at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago, IL.
