Objective
This program aims to create a general education experience for students; it is designed to prepare them to:
1. Live effectively by understanding and dealing constructively with the diversity of the contemporary world -- a diversity manifested not only in ideas and ways of knowing, but also in populations and cultures.
2. Learn continuously by constructing a coherent framework for ongoing intellectual, ethical and aesthetic growth in the presence of such diversity.
3. Work productively by enlarging their personal and vocation pathways, developing lifelong competencies such as critical and creative thinking, effective communications, and abilities to reason quantitatively and engage in substantive problem-solving. (Adopted by STLCC Board of Trustees, 1998)
