Program Descriptions

The Fine Art programs include drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, ceramics and photography. The Graphic Communications program is a respected vocational program with courses in illustration, graphic design, typography, computer graphics and production. Through the Meramec Art Department, you may also choose studies in architecture, interior design, art history or advanced courses offered by Center for Visual Technology.

Your Aassociate in Fine Arts degree can lead to careers in many exciting fields, including film and video production, graphic design, merchandising, animation, commercial art, advertising, art education, illustration, interior design, art therapy, computer art or art restoration. With all these avenues of creative expression, Meramec is the ideal first step toward realizing your goals. The St. Louis Community College at Meramec can provide you with state-of-the-art facilities in which to learn and the learning tools to complement the superb teaching of the Meramec faculty. A $3.5 million expansion of the Humanities East (art and music) building now houses enhanced classrooms, labs, studios and sophisticated graphics and computer facilities. The courses of Meramec's Art Department are also the perfect precursor to pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in partnership with the University of Missouri-St. Louis. UM-St. Louis will accept all art courses taken at St. Louis Community College up to a maximum of 66 credit hours, so students who complete their Associate of Fine Arts Degree can transfer directly into junior- and senior-level courses at UM-St. Louis.
