Arts Programs at Florissant Valley
Florissant Valley’s nationally accredited art department strives to meet the wide-ranging academic and artistic goals of its students. We offer concentrations in Art Education, General Fine Arts, Graphic Communications, and Photography. Most of our students take coursework to complete degree requirements in one of these areas. However, many of our courses are open to non-majors as well. As a result, art class enrollment often includes a number of students from non-art disciplines around campus, as well as non-degree-seeking community members looking to use our facilities and study with our instructors. Our art majors typically complete core foundation art classes in their first year, either before embarking on classes in their concentrations or concurrently.
Please note: In studio classes, each credit equates to approximately two hours in the classroom and at least one additional hour devoted to homework per week.
