Florissant Valley Art Gallery
The Florissant Valley Art Galleries are not defined by a single space but by a main gallery and several alternative exhibition spaces located throughout the campus: the Contemporary Gallery, Gallery ADMIN and Annex A & B.
The Contemporary Gallery is an 850 square-foot traditional space on the lower level of the Instructional Resources building (IR-111) where local, regional and international art is showcased for the enjoyment and interests of students and the local community. Two-and three-dimensional works in a variety of media are presented throughout the academic year, reflecting disciplines taught in the art programs, as well as emerging art trends and movements. There are between six and eight exhibitions each year.
Gallery ADMIN provides 65 linear feet of display in an alternative exhibition space located on the 2nd floor of the Administration building. Gallery ADMIN focuses on emerging and established minority artists. Recent exhibitions have included C'babi Bayoc, Christine Ilewski, Joy Wade and Grace Lin.
Annex A & B are mini exhibition spaces located in the Humanities building that focus on work created by the art faculty.

Contemporary Gallery
Recent national exhibitions have focused on the works of Mark Holmes, Joshua Mosley, Manuel Alvarez Bravo, Luis Gonzalas Palma, Richard Johnson, Francois Deschamps and George Bartko. Local exhibitions have focused on emerging as well as established artists. Artists featured in recent exhibitions have included John Wickersham, Robert Ketchens, Sarah Giannobile, Mary Beth Shaw and Tim Hahn. In addition, the gallery has curated group shows and local collections.
In 2006 the Contemporary Gallery presented “The Spirit Within,” a curated exhibition of African art from the collection of A. Patrick Irue. The exhibition focused on ceremonial, spiritual and utilitarian African art pieces that originated in the West African communities of the Ashanti, Yoruba, Nok, Ibo, Afo, and the Benin. The work represented centuries of uninterrupted traditions and reflected the specific voices of each community formed by location, time, culture, power structure, and belief.
The yearly “Faculty Exhibition,” “Student Exhibition,” “Works in Progress,” and “Annual High School Art Exhibition” are also important presentations in this space. The student show spans four to six weeks. Works by second year students in the General Fine Arts, Graphic Communications and Photography programs are eligible to be juried into these exhibitions. Each program exhibits work in the gallery for one week. (first year work is showcased in the Humanities building). Selected work from each exhibition is then highlighted in a follow-up “Mega” show. In recent years the show has been presented in off-campus venues in downtown St. Louis.
The “Works in Progress” exhibition focuses on recent FV alumni who are working on, or who recently completed, their B.F.A. or M.F.A degrees.
