Construction Technology
Associate in Applied Science Degree in Construction Technology is a 68-credit-hour program for individuals desiring work as technicians in the construction industry. Students acquire knowledge and skills in all phases of construction. This program also provides a base knowledge for persons planning to transfer and pursue a Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Technology.
Students gain knowledge and skills in all phases of construction, including planning, design, construction methods and contract management.
Graduates are qualified for positions in the areas of inspection, work scheduling, estimating, material ordering, equipment sales, field management, and construction planning and layout.
According to the U.S. Department of Labor Bureau of Labor Statistics, applicants seeking positions as a technician are expected to have the best opportunities if they posses an associate’s degree in the field. The overall employment rate is expected to increase at an average rate through 2014.
