Communications Arts - Organizational Communication
Organizational communication examines the communication system and behavior within organizations. Students will develop systematic improvement of communication skills as employer and/or employee. The organizational communication option provides a two-year general education preparation for successful transfer into a four-year university or college.
Students develop skills for effective communication -- tools essential for career-oriented graduates in today's competitive world.
Classes include Persuasion, Interview Process, Small Group Communication, Organizational Communication and others.
Frequently used electives include Communication Between Cultures and Gender Communication. Communication Between Cultures introduces students to the topic of intercultural communication including the communication process, perception, verbal, nonverbal, symbols, beliefs, values, etc. Barriers such as stereotypes, languages and culture shock are examined. Cultural research helps students understand relationship and communication skills.
Internships with local businesses are encouraged. Students receive hands-on training and learn essential skills as a starting point in their chosen field.
