Cisco Academy

The Cisco Networking Academy program, offered at the Forest Park campus in its state-of-the-art Advanced Network Training Center, prepares students for entry level and advanced positions. The CCNA and CCNP programs consist of a series of four courses developed by Cisco Systems Inc., the world's largest supplier of networking equipment.

The Cisco Networking Academy program teaches students to design, build and maintain computer networks. Advanced studies teach the more complicated aspects of networking. The academy curriculum covers a broad range of topics, from basic networking skills such as pulling cable to more complex concepts such as applying advanced troubleshooting tools. Semesters 1 through 4 of the academy program, equivalent to 280 hours of instruction, provide students with a basic foundation in networking. Students who successfully complete this portion of the program are eligible to earn Cisco Certified Network Association (CCNA) certification.  Students who have completed Cisco 1 through 4, or have earned CCNA certification may take Cisco 5, 6, 7 or 8 in any sequence to gain Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification.

Forest Park has served as a Cisco Regional Academy since 1998.

For the period 2004 through 2014, MERIC (Missouri Economic and Research and Information Center)  projects the Network and Computer Systems Administrators occupation to grow 34% and the Network Systems and Data Communications Analysts occupation to grow 46%.  Data sources: MERIC short-term occupational projections and MERIC occupational employment and wage survey.
