Associate in Fine Arts Degree (FV, FP, M, W)

Associate in Fine Arts Degree -- Art Education option is a 70-71-credit hour program that provides students with the first two years of study toward a professional degree in art education. Upon completion, students can transfer to the University of Missouri-St. Louis to earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Art Education, or transfer to other four-year art schools or colleges to complete a professional art education degree. Students are encouraged to work with STLCC advisors to plan a program to meet requirements to the transfer institution.

Students interested in this program should possess a strong interest in visual art and a desire to teach at the elementary or secondary level. Students enrolled in Art Education take courses in studio art and art history, as well as courses in teacher education. Professional art education degrees accessible with an AFA in Art Education may include the BFA with Teacher Certification, BA in Art Education, BS in Art Education with Teacher Certification, and BSE in Art.
