STLCC-Wildwood Commemorates 10th Anniversary with Scholarship Fundraising Events

September 27, 2017

Wildwood Painting Party
Participants in STLCC-Wildwood's Painting Party on Oct. 25 will be able to create a piece similar to this one.

The community is invited to join St. Louis Community College-Wildwood for a scholarship fundraiser, Wednesday, Oct. 25. All proceeds raised from this event will support the STLCC-Wildwood Scholarship Fund.

This scholarship fund is a new program established this year to commemorate the campus’ 10th anniversary. All proceeds raised will directly benefit students in need who attend the Wildwood campus.

Students, employees and community members have three ways to participate in the scholarship fundraiser.

1. Register for a Painting Party
On Wednesday, Oct. 25, STLCC-Wildwood will host two painting parties at the Wildwood Pub and Grill, 17253 New College Avenue in Wildwood. The painting sessions are scheduled for 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. in the restaurant’s party room.

The painting sessions will be led by Sean Frye, a professional artist and STLCC-Wildwood instructor. Frye holds a Master of Arts degree in Drawing and Master of Fine Arts degree in Painting and Sculpture from Fontbonne University. In addition to teaching a variety of design, drawing and painting courses at STLCC, Frye regularly hosts painting parties at a local “paint and sip” studio.

The cost is $35 per person. This fee includes all art supplies, step-by-step instructions from a professional artist and appetizers. Guests 21 and over are welcome to purchase $4 house wines with a valid I.D. To register, click here.

2. Dine at the Wildwood Pub & Grill
The Wildwood Pub & Grill will donate a portion of its sales on Oct. 25 to the STLCC-Wildwood Scholarship Fund. To participate in the donation dining event, guests must show the scholarship fundraiser flier when ordering. The restaurant is open 11 a.m.-10 p.m.

3. Make a Donation to the STLCC-Foundation
In an effort to raise funds for STLCC-Wildwood’s new scholarship, the campus is seeking donations through the STLCC-Foundation. Anyone who wishes to support the STLCC-Wildwood Scholarship Fund is asked to designate this fund in the “comments” field when giving online.

In addition to this scholarship fundraiser, a variety of other events are planned at Wildwood to commemorate the campus’ 10th anniversary. Click here for a list of those events.

Located in west St. Louis County near Highway 109 and Manchester Road, STLCC-Wildwood’s 132 acre campus is situated in a native prairie setting, surrounded by woods. The natural setting gives students a place to enjoy their surroundings while receiving a high quality education in a state-of-the-art facility.

STLCC-Wildwood is a green campus, built with environmentally-friendly materials and architecture. When the campus opened in 2007, it was the first community college in the Midwest to receive the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) gold-level certification.
