St. Louis Community College-Meramec will host the 42nd annual Special Olympics St. Louis Metro Area Spring Games on Saturday, April 29.

This event is a qualifying track, field and swim meet for nearly 400 registered Special Olympics athletes in and around the St. Louis metro area as they prepare for the State Summer Games in Springfield, Mo.

The Opening Ceremony is scheduled for 9 a.m., rain or shine. Athletes will compete until 3 p.m. in a variety of running, jumping, throwing and swimming events.

Athletes also have the opportunity to participate in two different “Healthy Athletes” screenings in between their competition events. Fitness and health promotion screenings will be available in the hopes that through better fitness and health, each athlete’s ability to train and compete in Special Olympics is improved.

Volunteers are needed for setup, registration, venue assistant or Athlete Buddy. Volunteers will be able to choose their time slots. To register online as an event volunteer, click here.
