Miranda Avant-Elliott, Ed.D., of St. Louis is the supervisor of college and career readiness for St. Louis Public Schools.

If elected, Avant-Elliott hopes to increase community partnerships, student retention, and positively impact the quality of education for the community. In her current position, Avant-Elliott partners with St. Louis Community College to assist high school students with college transition.

Avant-Elliott has served as a Missouri public school educator for more than 15 years, and is licensed as a teacher, secondary principal, superintendent, and career and technical education director. She previously served as college and career readiness director for the Jennings School District. She also was a career and technical education administrator with Kansas City Public Schools.

A former student at St. Louis Community College, Avant-Elliott earned her doctorate in education with a specialty in leadership from Saint Louis University. She also holds master’s degrees in both special education (Webster University) and education with an emphasis on urban leadership (Maryville University). Her bachelor’s degree in accounting is from Clark Atlanta University.
