New York Times Bestselling Author to Visit Forest Park campus

September 08, 2016

Lisa Nowlin
Laura Nowlin

Best-selling author Laura Nowlin will read excerpts from her new book, This Song is (Not) for You, on Friday, Sept. 23, at St. Louis Community College-Forest Park, 5600 Oakland Ave.

Nowlin will read and discuss her book 5-6 p.m. in Café East in the Student Center. Nowlin’s book is described as a wonderful, quick and unique read. Her first novel If He Had Been with Me, reached No. 3 on the New York Times’ bestsellers list for YA e-books.

Nowlin holds a bachelor’s degree in English with an emphasis in creative writing from Missouri State University. Nowlin is an avid reader who believes that books allow her to live many lives in one lifetime. She also works at a public library, where the patrons give her plenty of inspiration for her writing.

“I wrote these books in the hopes that somewhere out there, a teen would read these books and feel less alone in the world,” Nowlin said. “I’m currently working on my first project for adult readers, inspired by the darkest period of my life.”

Nowlin lives in St. Louis with her musician husband, neurotic dog, and psychotic cat.
