STLCC to Offer LaunchCode Course

Individuals interested in getting onto a career path in technology are invited to enroll in a free 20-week course offered by St. Louis Community College.

LaunchCode, a nonprofit that connects aspiring technologists with apprenticeships and jobs in technology fields, is partnering with STLCC to offer LC 101 St. Louis. This course teaches coding skills designed to help individuals advance in their current careers or begin a new career. The course focuses on several programming languages, including Python, Java and JavaScript. Students will learn basic programming fundamentals as well as  back-end web programming.

The course will be offered at STLCC’s Meramec campus 6-9 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays beginning Oct. 24. No previous coding experience is required. Interested individuals must complete an online application and aptitude test, as well as a beginning coding assignment.

LaunchCode partners with more than 500 companies nationwide to offer paid apprenticeships and jobs for aspiring developers and technologists. President Barack Obama recognized St. Louis-based LaunchCode as an example for solving the nation’s tech talent gap as part of the White House TechHire initiative.
