This month, members of the Fine Arts Club at St. Louis Community College-Wildwood installed a new art exhibit at Wildwood City Hall, 16860 Main Street.

The exhibit features 10 pieces of work that are all inspired by the same subject – a photograph of a windswept Scottish landscape by the sea. It will be on display through Sept. 22.

According to student artist Vicky Hefty, “Each version demonstrates that art is in the eye of the one with the brush.”

The new art exhibit is part of the campus’ Art Gallery program. This program is managed by students under the direction of Mark Weber, professor in art at Wildwood. It provide local businesses with a simple and affordable way to display original works of art.

In addition to helping businesses beautify their spaces, the program enables student artists to gain exposure to new customers who may want to purchase their work.

Since its inception, more than two dozen students have shown their art at various businesses throughout west St. Louis County.
