Trustees and administrators from St. Louis Community College visited with Missouri’s elected officials during the recent Association of Community College Trustees Legislative Summit in Washington, D.C.

Board members Doris Graham and Craig Larson, along with STLCC Chancellor Jeff Pittman, met with U.S. Senators Roy Blunt (R-MO) (pictured at left) and Claire McCaskill (D-MO), as well as staff members in the offices of U.S.  Representatives Ann Wagner (MO-Dist. 2) and William “Lacy” Clay (MO-Dist. 1).

During these meetings, the STLCC representatives discussed issues and solicited support of legislation important to the college, including the establishment of year-round Pell Grant funding and creation of a six-year graduation rate for community colleges.

The summit is considered the premier community college advocacy event in Washington, D.C., bringing together more than 1,000 community college leaders. The event shines a spotlight on the importance of the nation’s community colleges for Congress and the Administration.
