Candace D. Gardner

Candace Gardner  

Candace Gardner of Florissant is a special education teacher at Northview Elementary School in the Jennings School District.


Gardner has more than six years of classroom teaching experience at the elementary and secondary levels. She has taught at Northview Elementary for the past three years. Gardner served for one year as a facilitator for the EnTeam, a partnership between the St. Louis Public Schools and Illinois District 189. The objective was to introduce new learning concepts to students in middle and high school, serve as a tutor, and train high school seniors to tutor elementary-age students.


Garner currently volunteers for Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Eastern Missouri, and serves on the Council for Exceptional Children. She also is a member of the Promoting Recruiting Increasing Minority Educators. She served three years as vice president of the Black Student Union at Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville, and was a mentor for Females of African-Descent Modeling Excellence for two years.


Gardner holds a bachelor’s degree in special education from SIUE.
