Florissant Valley Recipients

Steve Ehlen  
Steve Ehlen

Steve Ehlen is the supervisor of the Engineering Technology Center and a 38-year employee at Florissant Valley. He also is an adjunct faculty member for Engineering Technology and for Continuing Education. He has served as host and coordinator for TEAMS, Worldwide Youth in Science and Engineering, WYSE, Project Lead the Way and FIRST Robotics academic competitions for a number of years. Ehlen is the recipient of a NISOD Teaching Excellence Award in 2005 and was a presenter at the NISOD Conference in 2006. He also was named Florissant Valley’s Adjunct Faculty Member of the Year in 1997. He earned two associate degrees from STLCC, and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a bachelor’s degree in industrial technology from STLCC’s 2+2 program with Southeast Missouri State University.

 

Bob Langnas  
Robert Langnas

Robert Langnas is a professor in the Arts and Humanities department and a 16-year employee at STLCC. He is also a printmaker, painter and mixed-media artist. Langnas has an extensive exhibition record and has judged approximately thirty regional art shows. He has served on the Special Exhibitions Committee of the St. Louis Artists’ Guild and on the Forums Committee of Art St. Louis. In addition, he has been a member of the Foundry Art Centre's Artists' Advisory Board since its inception. Langnas has been a full-time faculty member in the nationally-accredited art department at Florissant Valley since 2000. Prior to taking that position he taught at Culver-Stockton College and Delaware County Community College. Since 1990, he has taught all levels of drawing, design, painting, printmaking, illustration, and art history. He has also given numerous art-themed lectures and workshops to community and academic groups over the years. Bob also serves as Florissant Valley’s representative to the National Association of Schools of Art and Design, the Art department’s accrediting body.


Matt McVey  
Matt McVey

Matt McVey is the facility supervisor for Physical Education and Athletics, assistant men’s soccer coach, and a 19-year employee at STLCC. McVey was a student-athlete during the 1975-76 academic year and played on Florissant Valley’s NJCAA soccer championship team in 1975. He earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Missouri-St. Louis in 1987. He served as coach or assistant coach for several Florissant Valley soccer teams from 1992 to 2001.

 

 

 

Renee Peeples  
Renee Peeples

Renee Peeples is an administrative assistant to the vice president of student affairs and a 16-year employee. Renee is active in her community and church. She serves as an usher and president of the usher board at her church, Harrison Avenue Baptist Church.
