STLCC Observes Moment of Silence for UCC

October 08, 2015

UCC moment of silence

As a show of support for Umpqua Community College, St. Louis Community College students, faculty and staff took part in a moment of silence at 1 p.m. today. Flags at all STLCC locations also were lowered to half-mast at that time.

Organized by Phi Theta Kappa, community colleges nationwide participated in this moment of silence. Participants were encouraged to use the #IamUCC hashtag and share support via social media.

Nine Umpqua Community College students were killed and nine others were wounded in the October 1 shooting.

Established in 1964, Umpqua Community College is a single-campus institution that serves more than 19,000 full- and part-time students near Roseburg, Ore.
