STLCC to Present 2015 State of St. Louis Workforce Report on Aug. 5

August 04, 2015

ST. LOUIS (July 31, 2015) - The St. Louis Community College Workforce Solutions Group will present the 2015 State of St. Louis Workforce Report highlighting key talent development issues for the region. The report will be presented on Wednesday, August 5 from 7:30 to10 a.m. in the St. Louis Community College at Forest Park Mildred Bastain Performing Arts Center. The event includes networking and a continental breakfast, followed by the program and breakout sessions beginning at 8 a.m.
The theme of this year's report is "Economic Opportunity Gaps in the St. Louis Workforce." The employer survey included questions about practices that either created barriers or built bridges to economic opportunity. The report, compiled by the college's Workforce Solutions Group, also includes an employer survey that tracked trends in employment, highlights hiring practices, and gauges employers' perceptions on a range of workforce issues.
The findings will be released to over 300 business and community leaders as part of a St. Louis Business Journal seminar series. The event will include a presentation of the findings and reactions by a panel of leading employers, business, and community organizations facilitated by Dr. Rod Nunn, Interim President, St. Louis Community College at Forest Park. Attendees will have an opportunity to participate in small group discussions after the report and panel session. The event is co-sponsored by the Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis and will air live on HEC-TV network.
"We are pleased to be able to provide, for the seventh consecutive year, this unique workforce intelligence. We hope that it engages and adds to the conversation about workforce needs and economic opportunity in our region," said Steve Long, Associate Vice Chancellor for the college's Workforce Solutions Group.
Admission is complimentary. Reservations are requested by August 2. To RSVP, visit www.bizj.us/1hbvj7.
