STLCC Students Earn Explorer Awards

Two St. Louis Community College students recently earned one of the top honors bestowed by the Greater St. Louis Learning for Life Explorer program.

Explorer Captain Nick O’Hanlon, who attends STLCC-Meramec, and Explorer Lieutenant Katie Christian, who attends STLCC-Wildwood, received the Learning for Life Leadership Award.

The award recognizes individuals for superior performance, dedication and outstanding leadership to youth participants in either Exploring or Learning for Life programs.

Both O’Hanlon and Christian have devoted years of hard work and dedication to their respective posts and to the Greater St. Louis Area Council Law Enforcement Explorer Cluster. The St. Louis County 7th Precinct sponsored O’Hanlon, who also is an Eagle Scout. The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department sponsored Christian, a resident of Wildwood..

O’Hanlon, who resides in Fenton, and the St. Louis County Post 9774 also earned the Journey to Excellence Silver Award for completing different criteria as defined by a national council. The criteria include participation and growth, activities and service, volunteer leadership, and training.
