Forest Park Student Newspaper Receives 22 Awards at MCMA Convention

The Scene, St. Louis Community College-Forest Park’s student newspaper, received 22 awards—including second place for Best Overall Newspaper—in the two-year college division at the recent Missouri College Media Association’s annual convention and awards ceremony at Northwest Missouri State University.

Overall, The Scene received four first-place awards, nine second-place awards, four third-place awards and five honorable mentions. The Scene competed against several other two-year school newspapers from across the state, including newspapers from the Meramec and Florissant Valley campuses. Entries in the competition were judged for general excellence by members of the Missouri Press Association.

First Place

Second Place
Best Overall Newspaper; Evan Sandel, News Writing and In-Depth News Reporting; Justin Tolliver, Column; Jennifer Hearn, Entertainment Review; Yuanyuan Ji, Feature Photography; Jerome Clark, Political/Editorial Cartoon and Story Illustration; Justin Tolliver, Page One Design.

Third Place
Sweepstakes (most overall awards earned), Chris Cunningham, Column; Scott Allen and Evan Sandel, Entertainment Review; Jerome Clark, Story Illustration.

Honorable Mention
