The City of Wildwood and St. Louis Community College-Wildwood will host a paper shredding and electronics recycling drive from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, May 2, at the college’s campus at 2645 Generations Drive.

Since 2011, the events have yielded almost 100 tons of paper and 100 tons of electronics from West County residents.

Residents and non-residents of Wildwood can recycle computers and all their accessories, networking and telecommunications equipment, phones, clocks, VCRs, DVD players, stereos, A/V equipment, home electronics and small appliances. Each car will be able to drop off one television for free. Additional TVs will be accepted for a charge of $20 each. Electronics will be recycled by MRC, one of the few recyclers in the state of Missouri to achieve both R2 National and Level 4 State certifications.

Paper (with or without paper clips or binder clips), paper folders and files, CDs, rubber bands and pill bottles will be accepted for shredding. Paper should be brought in bags, not cardboard boxes. Paper will be shredded by Cintas, which is certified by the National Association for Information Destruction for mobile document destruction, and will be immediately shredded on-site as it is dropped off.

Hard drives, batteries, vinyl binders and medical or hazardous waste such as paint will not be accepted.

The event will end promptly at noon.
