March 17, 2015

St. Louis Community College-Forest Park will host a Junior FIRST LEGO Exposition on Saturday, March 21, 9-11:30 a.m., in the campus cafeteria, 5600 Oakland Ave. The event is free and open to the public.

The event will feature 12 teams of up to six members each sharing what they have learned as part of the Junior FIRST LEGO League. The teams will demonstrate the moving models they have designed and constructed using LEGO parts.

After the presentations all projects will be on display and the teams will be available to answer questions about their creations. Members of FIRST Robotics Challenge and FIRST Tech Challenge also will be on hand to demonstrate their robots. The event will end with an award ceremony.

For children ages 6-9, the Junior FIRST LEGO League captures their curiosity and directs it toward discovering the wonders of science and technology. The program features a real-world scientific concept to be explored through research, teamwork, construction, and imagination. Guided by adult coaches, teams use LEGO bricks to build a model that moves and develop a Show Me Poster to illustrate their journey and what they have learned. The program helps develop math and science skills in a fun and productive way.

This is the third year that STLCC-Forest Park has hosted a Junior FIRST LEGO Exposition. Some of teams taking part in the exposition will also participate in the FIRST World Championship to be held in St. Louis April 22-25.
