STLCC-Forest Park Theatre Hosts Auditions for “Discipline 27-II”

February 05, 2015

Auditions for the original production “Discipline 27-II,” about the influential jazz musician Sun Ra, will be held 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 18, and Thursday, Feb. 19, in the Mildred Bastian Theatre on the St. Louis Community College-Forest Park campus, 5600 Oakland Ave.

The production will be the premiere of this new play by Bob Mielke, a poet, author and professor of English at Truman State University. Mielke is a longtime fan of the Sun Ra Arkestra -- Sun Ra’s “orchestra” ensemble with an ever-changing, flexible lineup.

There are multiple roles for African-American men and women, a few roles for Caucasian men, and a number of roles that are open to color-blind casting. African-American dancers and drummers also are needed for the production, which will be performed on the Forest Park campus April 16-19.

Students as well as members of the community are invited to audition. Actors should be prepared to read brief scenes from the script.
